Study with the masters in this series of Bellydance Workshops. October 2nd features April Rose, hot off the cattle drive from Texas! (BDSS, Unmata & The Nautch Project) & Lauren (BDSS, Sahlala Dancers, BDE, HMC, Turbo Tabla & Bellydance Overdrive); November 5 features Sabah from Chicago (Director of the Bellydance Superstars) & Heather Aued (Bellydance Evolution & Sablala Dancers); December 3rd, Lauren is Joined by Sabrina Fox from San Diego (BDSS, Atash Maya & HMC)

Sunday, October 2, 11am-4pm: April Rose & Lauren
Workshop with Lauren: License to Zill (Technique and Combos): 11-1pm
Lauren is not only a world-touring dancer with the Belly Dance Superstars, but she is also a percussionist with a degree from Berklee College of Music. Who best to teach you how to play finger cymbals (zills, sagat) while dancing, than a professional who has mastered both?!
Master basic concepts of rhythmic theory, creating clear and articulate tones on your zills, and achieve contrasting bodily movements while carrying steady zill patterns. â€˜Licensed to Zillâ€™ is appropriate for dancers completely new to zills or more experienced zillers that want to reinforce a proper foundation for their zill playing and dancing. Learn how to communicate with your musicians and audience with zills!

Workshop with April Rose: Superstar Combos: 1:30-4pm
…And I’m not talking about the latest item on the MickeyD’s menu! Bring your shades and your v-necks ‘cause April Rose is BACK from causing chaos in Tejas to the land of style & stars. After a year touring with Bellydance Superstars and living in Austin, April has some fun stuff to bring home. Become reacquainted with her teaching method in the “Work, Craft, Drill” format of Amy Sigil, her UNMATA-trained hard work ethic, and the essential moves and stylizations you need to be successful in her weekly LA classes….while learning a choreography with star quality. She is teaming up with Superstar, Lauren, for a whole day of great tunes, dance, & sweaty fun. We hope to see all of April Rose's LA besties and new faces too.

Workshop with Sabah: Egyptian Choroegraphy ala Sabah: 2:30-5pm
Sabah will teach a choreography workshop showing how to choreograph a dramatic piece for the stage using imagery to add emotion. The piece is to the instrumental version used often in Egyptian Soap Operas.

Satruday, December 3, Noon-5pm: Sabrina Fox & Lauren
Workshop with Lauren: License to Zill (Choreography): Noon-2pm

This workshop will build upon the foundation created in her October 2nd workshop. Learn musicality concepts, phrasing and dynamics with your zills as you build upon your dance coordination in a fun choreography.

Workshop with Sabrina Fox: Up-tempo Combos: 2:30-5pm
In this workshop you will learn Tribal fusion combos for Improvised performance. Each combo can be easily applied to your favorite music, and used in solo or group Improvisational performance,
This is an all level workshop, beginning and advanced dancers will gain tremendous ability and insight form this workshop.

Spring into Summer Tour

May and June are filling up fast!!!

I am very excited to be going on tour with The Bellydance Superstars to Tokoyo and Osaka in for one week in May. Here is the link to the Japanese tour site, be sure to check out the video clip at the bottom of the page for footage of our new show Bombay Bellywood.

In June I am making a run for the border, heading to Oaxaca to teach workshops and perform with Sharon Kihara, Sabah & Rania at the 1st International Bellydance Festival in Oaxaca. I am very excited to meet the bellydancers of Mexico and eating as much Mexican food as is humanly possible.

After Oaxaca I will be jet setting to Lima Peru to teach and perform at The Raqs Peru Tales of Desire Workshop with my good amiga Kami Liddle. I have never been to South America before, I am super excited!!

I am also planning some Local Los Angeles classes... Stay Tuned Angelinoes!!!
